Evil Done in The Name of Religion

Everywhere I turn I see religious extremists performing acts that go against their religion in order to try and coerce people to join their religion or to glorify God. From the abortion clinic bombings here in the United States to the executions performed by Islamist extremists in the Middle East; the present day and much of history has plenty of evil credited to the name of religion.   Does this evil show the true nature of that religion? Certainly not! These acts are carried out by people who have fallen under the sway of a lie perpetrated by the devil himself, saying that this evil will glorify God even more than by carrying out his decrees. A scriptural answer can be found in Romans 3:5-8. “But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge t...

The Fear of God

This is a question that has been bugging me for some time now; what does it mean to fear God? Some people would say that it is a simple respect for the Lord, while others on the opposite spectrum are absolutely terrified of His wrath if they step even an ounce out of line. The phrase or reference to fear of God is mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. So somewhere we have gone astray in this meaning. A main objection to God, especially who follow the thoughts of Richard Dawkins, is that he is nothing more than a supernatural bully and we should fear Him as a sort of mobster crime lord. While this is somewhat true, I don’t believe this is all there is to the phrase “fear of God”.                 While we should be afraid of the Lord should we cross Him and what punishments He is capable of meting out, I believe the...

A Response to What Has Atheism Done For Me?

I recently read an article by a blogger named godlessindixie, linked by one of my atheist friends on Facebook entitled What Has Atheism Done For Me?. This article was this person’s listings of how their life has improved since they have relinquished their faith. What I would like to do is respond to godlessindixie on their points. 1.        Introduction: The article begins on godlessindixie commenting on the negative social backlash that they have received since renouncing their faith. I would like to apologize for that since your worldview is your personal choice and no one should fault you for that just because they hold a different worldview. The Bible does teach us to love our neighbor as ourselves, but so many people do not follow this that it becomes a cliché. Please do not think that all Christians are self-righteous judgmental hypocrites behind the curtain, ...
Good Evening, As this is my first post, let me welcome you to my page and thank you for being one of the first to read this blog. My main motivation for writing this blog, as the description says, is to put my thoughts on proverbial paper for the world to see. I would also like to show that religious people do not check their brains at the door when they enter a church or entertain theological thoughts. Please do check back from time to time to see my new posts and share this page with your friends.
